About the Book
History Highway is a book written for children of all ages and has appeal for many learning styles and levels.
It captures the essence of progress and development of New Zealand roads over the last 100 years in a way that children can relate to.
Written in verse form with engaging full page water-color illustrations, the book is informative, interactive and fun.
It is a good read at the simple story level but digging deeper will reveal learning points for literature as well as history and technology.

“An awesome way to teach kids about local NZ history
and it's such a fun interactive book for kids of all ages." – Abbey

More than just a Bedtime Story
This book provides early exposure to some fundamental educational concepts. It depicts change, development and progress which are inherent aspects of life. It illustrates the concept of cause and effect (for example, what happened to the pukeko when it crossed the road alone?) Pictures of seat-belts and personal protective equipment promote health and safety. The detailed drawings of machines, buildings, and people encourage careful observation. There is also opportunity to introduce the concepts of classification and basic mathematics through the activities suggested at the beginning of the book. Time is presented page by page in the horizontal arrangement of a time-axis.
